This Privacy Policy describes how Roommila and roommila.com ("we," "us") collect, use, disclose, and protect your digital personal data ("Personal Data") in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

At Roommila, we adhere strictly to the principles of data minimization and storage limitation as mandated by the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. We retain your personal data only for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the specific purpose for which it was collected, or as required by Indian law. Once the purpose is served or your consent is withdrawn (unless legal retention is required), the data will be securely erased or anonymized.
Different types of data are kept for different durations based on legal, regulatory, and business requirements:
Data Type: Name, Email, Phone, KYC
Retention: Retained while your account is active to provide services like communication, agreement uploads, and member management. If an account is closed by the user, the personal data will be moved to an "expired" state and deleted within 90 days, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention (e.g., tax records for 6-8 years).
Retention: Retained for the duration of the active tenancy and for a subsequent period as required by relevant Indian civil and tax laws to facilitate legal claims or regulatory audits.
Retention: Stored securely while the account is active. Transaction-related logs and system access logs must be retained for a minimum of one year for audit and investigation purposes as per the DPDP Rules, even after account deletion.
Retention: Retained for up to 26 months for internal analytics and troubleshooting, after which it is anonymized or deleted.
As a Data Principal, you have the right to request the correction, completion, updating, or erasure of your personal data held by Roommila.
Data will be erased when:
You can exercise your right to erasure through your app settings or by contacting our Grievance Officer. We will verify your identity before processing the request to ensure security. We will respond to your request within the timeframe prescribed by the DPDP Act (typically within 90 days).
We will notify you at least 48 hours before any scheduled automated data erasure to give you an opportunity to continue using the service for the specified purpose (e.g., by logging in to keep your account active).
Data deletion involves the secure and irreversible removal of data from all relevant live storage locations.
Data may persist for a short period in encrypted backups, which are inaccessible during normal operations and are overwritten in subsequent cycles.

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned upon your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, owners, and tenants who access or use the Service.

Roommila is an online platform that acts solely as an intermediary to connect room/property owners ("Owners") with potential tenants ("Tenants"). We facilitate direct interaction and are not involved in negotiations or finalization of rental terms between the Owner and Tenant.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall Roommila be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from disputes between Owners and Tenants, or your use of the Service.
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts located in [City where your company is registered, e.g., Bengaluru], India.
